Pucker Up

Jane Ibbotson, “Pucker Up”, Photography, 12″ x 12″, Framed

Jane Ibbotson has always loved to explore the new and different. Capturing different cultures, traditions and everyday life is a passion.  Telling the story through her lens is pure joy.
In 2020, Jane travelled to the Omo Valley in Ethiopia to learn about and photograph the tribes.  The Ethiopian people are stunning, happy and industrious. The most beautiful are the Suri. They are nomadic cattle herders who are true artisans that have a real connection with nature which they express through their body art. Natural clay from the river is ground down to make paste with different colours. This paste is applied in an artistic way and enhanced with seasonal and exotic berries, flowers, seed pods and anything they can find in their environment.   The patterns are inspired by birds and other natural elements. These designs symbolize beauty, strength and power.  Aren’t they stunning!
